Good Game: Its fun and easy to understand, the visuelles are good and in a unique style I havent seen so far. I think there is plenty to do 9 Main Bosses with 3ish difficulty settings (the last difficulty, is made of multiple increasingly difficult runs), the reason why I say I think so far and since the start I am on a winning streak I beat all 9 Bosses on standart difficulty without a loss and now beat the first Boss again on the hardest difficulty I have so far, tbh I think there is definitely alot of luck involved on probably half the bosses I realized I had exactly that ability I need for that boss, even tho I didnt know what will come. The only negative thing I can really name: Is the Creature Building Part overall its well made but I really would have liked more ways to interact with each stat, Attack and so on.... the further you get into the run you stop using most Attacks cuz why should you use a Attack that deals 1 dmg if you could deal 5? So a way to manipulate weak Monsters, Attacks and even Statuseffects further would be appreciated.(Building your own creature is still fun, especially if it clicks) But overall I can recommend Decktamer !!

A unique deckbuilder that rewards adaptation over attachment. At first, Decktamer's difficulty scaling can seem absurd, especially on higher difficulties. But this is a very different game from Slay the Spire or Inscryption, where you build a deck and grow attached to your cards. Decktamer is more like a multistage rocket. Your starting creatures are the first stage: they get you off the ground while you assemble the next stage, then become dead weight and fall away. Navigate these transitions successfully and you'll reach orbit to fight the boss. Fail, and gravity ends your run. Unlike most deckbuilders, where keeping a small deck is advantageous, simply finishing a run with more than five creatures can be a challenge. For those who think the game is too hard... skill issue! Yes, enemy strength escalates dramatically, but there are plenty of hilariously broken synergies that can obliterate any boss. The challenge is learning to bake a cake with whatever ingredients are left in the pantry. It took me roughly 20–30 hours to defeat
the five original bosses
on Challenge/Explorer difficulty, and
another set of tougher bosses
has since been added. There's plenty of content here. My biggest criticism is the convoluted difficulty and progression system. Relaxed, Standard, Challenge, Standard+, Journeyman, Journeyman+, Explorer, Explorer+, Pioneer... come on, guys. The game simultaneously offers handholding on lower difficulties while locking story content behind higher ones. Depending on what someone selects, they can have wildly different experiences: too easy, impossibly hard, or missing content entirely. I'd much rather see three clearly defined, exploration-themed difficulties: Journeyman → Expert → Pioneer. Imagine these as three increasingly dangerous routes into the Abyss, each leading to the same bosses and essential story content. Completing an easier route unlocks the harder one. Higher difficulties could reward players with richer lore, additional journal entries, or more detailed sketches. Defeating every boss across all three routes could award artifacts that unlock
a final secret area and bonus boss
. This would provide a clear progression from easy to hard, preserve the story for casual players, and give dedicated players something meaningful to work toward. Decktamer isn't quite the masterpiece that Slay the Spire or Inscryption is, but its core mechanics are genuinely fun and refreshingly different. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and hope the developers keep building on what they've created. Definitely recommended.

Read in fullShow less
