Midwest Goodbye — нарративный декбилдер, где через карточные «разговоры» раскрываются семейные истории и моменты взросления: игрок выстраивает диалоги, укрепляет или ослабляет связи с близкими и влияет на финал истории. Плюсы: эмоциональная, камерная подача — сюжет цепляет бытовыми деталями и темой прощания; оригинальная механика: колода как метафора мыслей и воспоминаний делает взаимодействие с персонажами выразительным. Минусы: темп местами слишком размеренный — некоторым игрокам может не хватать динамики; ограниченный простор для выбора: отдельные ветки сюжета ощущаются линейными, а влияние решений — не всегда заметным. Итог: Midwest Goodbye — трогательная и атмосферная история для тех, кто ценит неспешные нарративы и необычные способы подачи сюжета через игровые механики.
Great game! Short with a cool integration of storytelling and deck builder. Definitely recommend and excited to see what comes next.
I do wish there was more story in the game since I was sad that it ended so quickly, as it takes around 45 minutes to complete. However, the game has multiple character endings depending on your relationships with the 4 characters, which adds great replay value. I went back and got all the best character endings, though doing them all in a single run for the achievement is not something I care enough to do. The card mechanic is unique and is the first time I've seen that kind of thing in a game before and it was pretty well done. I didn't realize that you could add multiple modifiers on one card so that's also something. Sometimes though I didn't understand why some cards made their relationship meter go down even though the dialogue that I used wasn't even bad, which makes balancing the different character endings a bit tricky. This game is so cute! It makes me want to call my grandma!
Very good, short, emotional game
What a fun cute game! I love the art and music, and all of the tooltips and clear objectives were super helpful. I definitely want to do another run where I use all of the red cards and make everyone mad. Maybe that's what I have to do to get my mom to like me :D

This game is so cute! I really liked how the house changed as you got older throughout the game, [spoiler] the fact that the stuffed animal ended up getting thrown under your character's bed for a bit made me really sad but was also a perfect detail that captured the feeling of growing up. [/spoiler] The deck system was also very fun to play with and I had a blast learning how to get the best interactions with each person :)
