[b] An enjoyable car simulator with a solid foundation, but it could definitely use more variety. [/b] Used Car Simulator is genuinely fun and quite addictive at first. Expanding your workshop, buying and restoring cars, upgrading your equipment and finding new ways to make money gives you a satisfying sense of progression. There is also a storyline that gives you an additional goal and makes the first few hours go by very quickly. Unfortunately, after a while it becomes clear that the core mechanics are fairly simple, and the biggest weakness is the lack of variety in the missions. Many of them follow similar patterns – dig something up and deliver it, recover an item, restore a wreck and return it, or simply transport packages. These activities are enjoyable at first, but after repeating the same things over and over, they become rather monotonous. This is definitely the area where I see the most room for improvement. The experience system is also a little strangely balanced. I can complete a mission that sends me driving all over the city, back and forth, spending quite a lot of time on it, only to receive 100 EXP at the end. At the same time, I can buy a Porsche from the wealthy district for restoration, practically right next to the dealership, and get 600 EXP. Then I repaint it, sell it and get another 600 EXP. 😄 At some point you start wondering: why even bother doing the missions when buying, repairing and selling cars can level you up so much faster? The progression through different locations is an interesting idea, but I feel it wasn't fully thought through. You start with a workshop, later get access to a car dealership, and eventually buy a mansion. You can repair cars in all three locations, but in practice each new location quickly makes the previous one almost unnecessary. Once I bought the car dealership, I got a manager who could handle selling the cars for me, so from that point on I practically forgot that the original workshop even existed. The mansion is an even more interesting case – it cost me 2 million, and buying it was required to complete the storyline. The problem is that after purchasing it, I had practically no reason to use it. There is no manager or mechanic there that gives you any real advantage, so after buying it I simply stopped using it. Spending two million on a building that ultimately just stood there unused feels a little wasteful. 😄 I think it would have been much more interesting if each location had its own specific purpose and remained useful throughout the game, rather than simply being another step in the progression. Early in the game, when money is limited, you actually have to think about what you want to spend it on. Later, once you have more money than you know what to do with, you can simply max out practically everything. Some upgrades then become little more than decoration, with very little impact on the actual gameplay. I mean... who doesn't need a golden toilet? 😄 The achievement system deserves some praise, though. I unlocked all 92 achievements and honestly have very little to complain about here. They are varied and don't force you to mindlessly repeat the same activity dozens of times. There are achievements related to selling cars and progressing through the game, but thankfully there is no annoying system like “sell the same specific car 10, 25 and 50 times”. Completing the achievements therefore doesn't turn into a completely pointless grind. I ended up spending over 40 hours with the game and completed everything there was to do. Despite all of these criticisms, I had a good time playing it, which is why I can definitely recommend it. I simply think there is still plenty of room for improvement – especially when it comes to mission variety, experience balance, giving the different locations a real purpose, and providing more meaningful progression after completing the main storyline.
