Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival

The gory horror aspect of it mixed with the hack and slash/weapons makes this a must have for Halloween. To be honest the extra Deluxe items are 100% not worth the price and is honestly the only thing i hate about this game. For the price of this game and the overall gameplay and story of this game is a great buy and scratches all the right horror itches you may have.

As a fan of Hellraiser, I’ve always found the ideas of the lore to supersede the execution of the films, at least the first two (we don’t count the rest; however the remake was solid). This game not only gives Hellraiser the credit it deserves, but crafted a masterful presentation and story that does it justice. The Cenobites are not overplayed and they carry the aura that made them such standouts in the first film. It’s violent, gory, sexy, scary, and jaw dropping. The scale of the labyrinth superseded my expectations. I just finished playing Control Resonant which is filled with large scale, jaw dropping set pieces and yet, Hellraiser Revival rivals many of its moments for me. I never imagined that Hellraiser would get such a superb presentation, let alone a video game and yet here we are. Well done to the developers! I was only a child when I happened upon Hellraiser for the first time. It defined my love for horror and since, have seen every movie several times, read the comics, and read Clive Barker's works. I often wondered what an actual Hellraiser game would be like, if it was possible, and how anyone could possibly do it justice. So, as much as I tried to remove myself from my biases and expectations, it was for naught as they were there on their pedestal. I saw a few saying they wished this game was yet another dead-on-arrival asymmetrical horror like the plethora of other IPs thrown onto the pile. I can not begin to tell you how happy I am that Saber Interactive disregarded the asymmetrical trend and went for a Resident Evil styled survival-horror instead.
